Karla is the site coordinator for the Alameda County Safe Routes to Schools Partnership. She's inspired by working with parents, schools, community groups, and agencies in a collaborative way to help create a socially and environmentally just future for children and families. Prior to joining TransForm, Karla worked and volunteered in various organizations that help empower low-income communities in Oakland and indigenous communities in less-industrialized countries.

Karla's biggest joys are playing outdoors with her toddler and husband and visiting family in their native Nicaragua. She received a B.A. in international relations with a minor in world development studies from San Francisco State University.
