South Bay Bus Rapid Transit

Big Changes On the Way in the South Bay for Public Transportation

If you live or spend time in the cities of San Jose, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Palo Alto, or Cupertino, big changes are on the way to a public transportation stop near you!

The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) plans to bring over 30 miles of Bus Rapid Transit service to the Alum Rock, El Camino, and Stevens Creek Transit Corridors.

Bringing Bus Rapid Transit successfully to the Bay Area is an essential part of TransForm's strategy to create a fast, interconnected regional public transportation network, as outlined in our 2002 report Revolutionizing Bay Area Transit on a Budget. TransForm is engaging communities in shaping Santa Clara County's planned Bus Rapid Transit projects so that it works well and reflects the needs of the surrounding neighborhoods; learn more about what's happening and get involved by contacting Chris Lepe, our South Bay Community Planner!
