I gave up my car two years ago, after a lifetime of driving a lot. Growing up in the San Fernando Valley (Los Angeles) gave me little choice - if I wanted to get anywhere, I had to drive. But now I take the bus and walk almost everywhere. Still, I sometimes borrow a car or get a ride, so for the first week of June, it will truly be a challenge to travel zero miles in a car.
